Premiere: BodyMoves – This Is Gabor’s House (Free Download)

With so much music to find from new artists out there, we really enjoy the task of sifting through and dusting off those unpolished gems. Today’s treat is the second release of 2015 for Keep Up! Records from label debutant BodyMoves. North Spaulding EP is the Brixton-based producer’s first offering as an artist and stems from three months living in and around LA, soaking up the sight and sounds of record shops, yard sales and swap meets.

We’re delighted to give you a first full listen to our favourite ‘This Is Gabor’s House’, which serves as an excellent introduction to the producer and the EP itself. With what sounds like a West African djembe at its core, under a wobbly crackle the track instantly hypnotises in a rhythmic ostinato, filled with faint shakers and penetrating cow bells answering the drummers call. When the dizzy, spaced melodies enter the fray the piece is rooted nicely by a muffled hip-hop style kick drum and delicate guitar riff, complimenting the syncopated percussion and cementing the groove. As the track hits its stride BodyMoves adds chants and more otherworldly melodies to send your hips completely into orbit with this addictive afro-house number.

North Spaulding EP is released on 25th May via Keep Up! Records and available from Kudos Records and all other good stores. For the time being, download ‘This Is Gabor’s House’ exclusively with us, a repay Keep Up’s generosity, by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
