Babicka & Mic Mills present MBM – Lenny

When BDOH001 arrived on the Australian imprint in 2013, Untzz seemed a very fitting name for a label whose sound relies heavily on crunchy bass-driven techno. Yet, having been met with huge demand for their music since launching in Adelaide, label bosses Babicka and Mic Mills have moved their operation to Berlin, where their sound has matured and detached from their earlier UK-influenced style. Recent Untzz releases have taken on a more Germanic form, reflecting the more subtle and nuanced approach of Europe’s techno capital.

Their most recent EP is a collaborative effort from Babicka and Mic Mills, under the ‘MBM’ guise. The lead track,‘Lenny’, is a late night roller that exemplifies how Untzz have developed a finely tuned craft since their conception. It employs synth flourishes and graceful pads that provide classy moments of clarity, measured out perfectly against the gritty analogue drum programming and tape-saturated acid stabs that were hallmarks of Untzz’s initial output.

‘Lenny’ features on the forthcoming 12″ release, Babicka & Mic Mills present MBM (BDOH009). Out now on Untzz and available to buy from Red Eye Records.
