For those unaware, Akra (a.k.a. Nick Woolfson) is one half of Mock & Toof and the man behind Teng Records. After last year’s Pure EP, Woolfson returned this month with the hypnotic Blossom EP, which showcases three entrancing tracks of acid house, nu-disco and something that goes a little deeper.
Today, we proudly premiere our top pick from the release, ‘Mission Creep’. It may be the cleverly used sample of Erykah Badu’s ‘On and On’ which provides the track with a feel of sonic hypnosis, it gives off an air of mystery which slowly grows to be moreish in its somnambulism. The gentle drum kicks underpin ‘Mission Creep’ to aid its transition between both the downtempo and the more upbeat. Alongside other tracks ‘Blossom’ and ‘Rumblestrip’, the EP cohesively provides the listener with a journey through both time and space which keeps us locked from start to finish.
