Labelled the ‘3am Mix’, ‘Soufwans’ opens like an early sunrise, a soft swelling synth rising beneath Esnard Boisdur‘s wonderfully emotive vocals. Despite hailing from Guadeloupe, Boisdur’s vocals sound at home over the Detroit inspired synth stabs, while the percussion retains some of the feel from the 1991 original. Although eerie at times, the breezy, undulating soundscapes build anticipation, making it a gorgeous opener, or a transition track to deeper cuts.
