Nachtbraker, also known as Maurits Verwoerd, has come a long way since his previous career as a writer. Being known as a bit of a recluse in his early musical beginnings, Verwoerd would surface rarely and only at night, earning him the title of ‘night hawk’.
Having gone on to release records on the likes of Dirt Crew and Detroit Swindle’s Heist Recordings, including collaborations with the likes of Max Graef and Frits Wentink, Nachtbraker is slowly bringing people around to his way of thinking.
We’re delighted to premiere ‘Zachtjes’ (Dutch for ‘softly’), an effortlessly smooth and equally deep number off the YIWYA EP on the Huddersfield label Hudd Traxx. Nachtbraker seduces with a beautifully simple Rhodes piano line swaying over live drums. Morsels of sax are thrown in to add extra gleam to a stunning opener on the must-have EP.
