Day 11: Seka – Cessna (Free DL)

Today, the Bristol-based DJ, producer and friendly face Seka has provided a mellow-yet-bouncy house track fit for these darker winter nights. Rolling over the soft beat, misty synths cast a calming haze, while the muffled bass line bounces beneath synthy fog. Vocal echoes call out, giving this groove plenty of soul. Despite the cold, Seka manages to bring his characteristic warmth to this track, something we’ve come to expect and love from his uplifting selections.

Seka explained to Stamp: ‘I made the track in my old, crumbling, decrepit flat that was rife with mould. I was just experimenting with some chord progressions and found something that I liked. Perhaps the situation influenced my mood and I just wanted something warm and nice – the opposite of my abode basically. It wasn’t squarely aimed at the dancefloor, but I wanted to give it a bouncy bass line to liven it up, and the vocal sample just feel into place perfetly to give it a bit more emotion. I wanted lots of layers and a dusty feel to it.’
