As part of the three split EPs leading up to their debut album, New Jersey deep house duo Frank & Tony release You, a smoky, melancholic, viscous EP that will leave you swimming in its swirling low-end haziness.
Opening with the lyrics “winter is here, water is frozen”, ‘Bring The Sun’ longs for an antidote to its yearning and lugubrious tone. Instead, we are brought ever deeper into a swirling and wandering darkness. The vocals from Gry Bagoien stand out wonderfully from the low-end home of the instrumentation, almost sounding like a small child – especially whilst eerily repeating “I greet you with honey” towards the end of the track.
Bring The Sun is the B1 to the A Side’s ‘Companion‘ featuring a mighty production from the like-minded DJ Sprinkles. This collaboration is an impeccable fit with Frank & Tony now bearing the New York/Jersey deep house flag and a perfect framework with which Sprinkles can craft his ever distinctive and mournful deep house.
