NxxxxxS’ Five French Favourites

With the release of his album Fujita Scale last month, eyes have been transfixed on Parisian producer NxxxxxS, and not just to count how many letter Xs there are in his name either (five if you’re wondering). His fifteen-track instrumental odyssey through cloudy atmospheres and doped-out trap beats had New York’s trillest artists shouting him out. From the A$AP Mob to Flatbush Zombies, everyone’s itching to cypher over a NxxxxxS beat.

That underworld of skittish hi-hats and purple diamond grills seems so far removed from what’s deemed typically Parisian, and it made us curious to dig a little deeper. Who better to take us on that journey into the underbelly of France’s music scene than NxxxxxS himself. Here, he has picked out five of his favourite tracks at the moment and told us a bit about why he loves each one in particular.

1. Taha – ‘Lil Bit’
Taha is a young artist from Paris too. She’s the only French singer to bring that fresh sound from the internet here. Her last album Liquid Crystal (which she dropped under the name Senshi1992) was crazy. Now she just dropped her second project, Tuareg Shawty, which is as good as the first. This track is my personal favorite from the mixtape, produced by yours truly.

2. Bones – ‘ReturnOfThePimp (NxxxxxS Emotional Remix)’
I really hope to be able to work with Bones in the future. For now, I’ve only remixed this song off his album, Garbage.

3. Krampf – ‘Cyrrhus’
My homie Krampf keeps dropping these weird, dope, dark songs. This one’s got to be my favorite. Look out for our collab dropping very soon.

4. Twinztrack – ‘Dunes’
Definitely some of the best producers from France right now.

5. Mr Troy – ‘Things You Do feat. Co$$ (aka Cashus King)’
Crazy song. Feels like some old 9th Wonder and Phonte collab.
