The FACT Magazine podcast series has had some illustrious contributors over the past six years and very rarely has an artist mixed for them more than once. Their latest however sees an exception, with Ben Klock stepping up for his second. Famed for extended sets in the bowels of Berghain, Klock’s studio mixes are a different ball game, allowing him to ‘layer tunes more precisely’ in his own words. It’s an indication of his unique ability to make the world of techno supremely accessible to people who don’t love the genre, without diluting it for those that do.
Featuring tracks from Tin Man, Function and Surgeon, this mix has moments of thumping techno brilliance, but to dismiss it as such would be to miss the point. Tinged with Klock’s softer, more ambient side, this selection is suitable for more scenarios than just dancing in a dark room.
