To us, ‘The Grit in the Pearl’ by Berlin-based producer Clark sounds like a cacophony of the elements. Cool water trickling down the walls of a cave with echoing drops of half-melted stalagmites, then suddenly we’re out at sea with waves crashing against rocks as biting windchimes whirl above and sturdy earthen beats echo out from the cliffs. Cut to a new scene of swarming killer bees racing to escape the licks of crackling fire shooting off from exploding mines. It’s a crazy production to induce one’s imagination.
‘The Grit in the Pearl’ is the eighth featured track from Clark’s newest self-titled album, released last month by Warp Records. All formats are available to buy from Warp’s online music outlet, Bleep.
