Techno newcomer Varysoo drops heart-thumper In The Clearing EP this month on the ever dependable Bade Records, demonstrating his knack for dynamic soundscapes to compliment driving rhythm. On the original mix, the German producer melds the atmospheric, misty synths with a focus on the pounding kick and intense, peaking with a cuckoo-like synth.
The pulsating bassline throughout is reminiscent of the undulating sounds of Jon Hopkins, while the intricate melodies and brassy synths recall Ten Walls or Âme. Despite being nearly ten minutes long, the track never becomes repetitive, contrasting light and shade, opening up in the middle, offering respite from the thud of the kick. ‘In The Clearing’ is the kind of track that can kickstart the dancefloor whatever time of night and continues to prove Bade’s knack for unearthing hidden talent that deserves wider recognition.
In The Clearing EP is out now via Bade Records and available on Beatport. Accompanying the original mix are three remixes by Dahu, Kris Davis and Fedele.
