While Outkast’s Andre 3000 channels his inner-Hendrix on the silver screen in All is By My Side, born and bred Brookylnite Stimulus takes things to a new level with a passion project turning some of his favourite Jimi Hendrix tracks into rugged hip-hop cruisers with that gritty Brooklyn charm.
As a teen it was discovering Hendrix in the credits of Pharcyde‘s now anthemic ‘Passin Me By‘ that first drove Stimulus to discover more. Over the years he accumulated most of Jimi’s catalog, which paved the way for his new album Stimmi Hendrix: A Ritual Reunion, out 27th November. ‘Electric Land (BKLYN #1 Edit)’ is the first track to drop off the new record, mixing those lightening guitar licks with rhymes very reminiscent of a young Mos Def. It’s also a free download!
