Esa’s Top 5 Ode To Summer Tracks

In the run up to our free outdoor day party over at The Paperworks in South London this Sunday (14th September), Esa Williams aka Esa & Mervin Granger has hand selected five tracks inspired by the summer to get us all in the mood for a crazy shakedown.

As a DJ & producer championed by the likes of XLR8R and Resident Advisor (bagging the coveted ‘Mix of the Day’ accolade with his Afro-Futurism mix for Fabric), his colourful take on House music will be a perfect accompaniment to this Sunday’s line-up, spinning sounds alongside and Brand New Wayo.

Listen to Esa’s top five summer selection as a Youtube playlist below, accompanied by some words from the man himself:

1. Shina Williams & His African Band – Agboju Logun
Been a favourite of mine for some time now and always goes down a treat on a warm sunny day.

2. Dez Andrés – Seasons So Long
I’m a big fan of Detroit and this is one of those records that brings the summer soul to the dance floor.

3. Niama Makalou & African Soul Band – Kognokoura
Played this on a recent trip to Kenya at the Rift Valley Festival, Lake Naivasha with a full percussion band which was pretty special.

4. Bendaly Family – Do You Love Me
A fun, happy track which you’ll be familiar with if you’ve picked up our Highlife Edits.

5. Vakula – Electric Spica
Takes me away every time and hopefully I’ll be able to share the journey this Sunday at the Paperworks
