Premiere: Philou Louzolo – Woman 2 Woman

Yummy, yummy what’s that in my tummy? Why it’s Banoffee Pies‘ debut release as a scrumptious label.

The Bristol based label and promoters are the epitome of well-rounded, and I’m not talking about their pie-crust. They throw parties, host festival stages, curate a regular column for STW, host various mixes series and make their own line of t-shirts, caps, bucket hats and bumbags (as Banoffee Pies and sister company Dr Banana).

Their first release is a V/A EP with Ruf Dug, Mr Mendel, Philou Louzolo and Martin Hayes all contributing to a tasty mélange of dance tracks: Ruf Dug’s rough-edged banger Cosmic Feelings; Mr Mendels funky dancefloor igniter Freakin (played on 6Music recently and supported by Groove Armada and Laurent Garnier);  Philou Louzolo’s heartfelt warming modern afro-soul tribute to Black Panther Party member and civil-rights activist Kathleen Cleaver, Woman 2 Woman; and Martin Hayes’ smooth percussion-laden groove Broken Memory to finish. Bite-size morsels of each track can be listened to below, and we’re also delighted to premiere the full version of Woman 2 Woman:

BP01 will be out this month, with pre-orders available from Rush Hour Records and Juno.
