There’s some intangible thread running through this week’s MMM. Maybe it’s because my head needed soothing a little more than normal, but I stayed away from the some of the more jump-up selections of previous weeks and went for a little bit of melancholy, a lot of soul, about the same amount of groove.
In the mix there’s two forthcoming bits on Rhythm Section from Al Dobson Jr and Ptaki and some extra groovy stuff from up-and-coming producers Admin and Giovanni Damico and new @Peace. Alfa Mist and Emmavie take on a cover of James Blake, while Takuya Kuroda does the same for Everybody Loves The Sunshine. We’ve picked our favourite from Melanie de Biasio‘s new album, easily one of our favourites of 2014, and included some edits from Flako, Mr. Beatnick and Well Rounded bossman Donga. To round it up we’ve got some classics from Joy Division, Steve Spacek, Roy Ayers and William De Vaughn.
