Columbus, Ohio is a long way from West Africa, but you wouldn’t know it listening to the debut release from Seth Carter, aka DJ Dedikate. Teaming up with Craig Huckaby (Sound Signature) on vocals and percussion, Mr Carter fuses soulful house with an afrobeat flavour straight out the Fela Kuti handbook. Nowhere is the latter more present than on Baba Mi, which we’re delighted to be hosting above. If you like your dance music with an abundance of tribal drums and saxaphone, this one’s for you.
