Exclusive: thatmanmonkz (feat. Dnaë) – Burnin’ Up (Ducktape Dub Edit)

thatmanmonkz is a new name on STW, but has a few familiar ties. Monkz is also one half of S&M and Ex-Presidents who hold the first and second releases respectively on Brighton’s Principal Records. If you were at our day party in June you may remember Typesun dropping the excellent £4£ – here’s a photo of it if not! Then there’s Dnaë on vocals, who featured on Tuesday Born’s Wake, which we gave a lot of love earlier this year.

So dots have been joined, now a bit about this track itself. It’s the A2 on the debut release for monkz’s new label Shadeleaf, and is the editing handiwork of fellow Sheffield resident Chris Duckenfield. Those disco guitar licks of the original take more of a back seat to the track’s rumbling techno underbelly, while still allowing Dnaë’s vocals to feature strongly. A great release all in all and we’re chuffed to be able to stream the Ducktape Dub Edit above. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for monkz’s next EP on Sweden’s Local Talk.

Sounds Like: S&M, ForgetMeNot, James Welsh
Release Info: Burnin’ Up/Love Goes Around is out 18 November, from Juno or Piccadilly Records
