What We’re Listening To // Vol.17 (Work Beats)

It’s that time of the year when it’s getting to the business end of a year of study. Here’s a collection of beats that have kept us going so far so we thought we’d pass it on to help you see through the rest. Even if you’re past all that studying nonsense, there’s always a time to put your feet up. Follow us on Mixcloud to keep up to date with our future mixes, and you can also listen to this on Soundcloud.

There’s a pretty broad spectrum, starting off in Detroit with Kyle Hall then revisiting some older ones by Moodymann, Kerri Chandler, Four Tet, Mosca and Stimming. We’ve also featured some recently discovered producers: New York’s Astro Nautico crew (Howse), IAMNOBODI from Germany, Prince of Ballard, and UK producers laymedown, Bambooman, Cube Face, Mogadishu and Vanilla and one of our recent favourites on the site, Brother Mynor. There are also some beats from from previous Stamp Mix guests, Tall Black Guy (whose debut LP is due out next month on First World Records), Fybe:one and Alphabets Heaven (who has a new EP out now called Siamese Burn).

Some new releases to take note of among this pack come from Bristol’s Admin (off the For Junior EP), Djrum (off his Seven Lies LP), Anushka (whose debut EP Yes Guess is out now) and two Audio Doughnuts signees, Tuesday Born (Singing in the Dark EP) and Debian Blak (free Aaliyah remix EP).

Thanks to Julia, Justen, Sam and Channel Island Sound for putting us onto some of the tracks.
