If 2013 promises one positive thing for the music business (among other things of course), it’s the increasing success of the YouTube channel phenomenon. Since its genesis, the site has been home to millions of unofficial music streams, with some organised people making a habit of uploading similar songs. Now, some of the more successful ones are expanding to the live circuit, curating their own nights and playing at festivals. Forever expanding through a busy tour diary and a continuous stream of uploads, they’re success is showing no sign of slowing down. SubSoul is one example, and another is Bristol’s Eton Messy. They started off putting on nights at The Bank, but have now upsized to Motion, where they’ll be presenting the Dimensions Festival Launch Party. We’ve been following the channel for a while but are particularly interested because of the lineup, which contains a number of STW favourites and a couple of Stamp Mix guests. Listen to our favourites below (mixes in big, tracks in mini). Lots of free downloads too.
