LION BABE – Treat Me Like Fire

Tipped for big things in 2013 with their balmy RnB vibes are the freshly-cut New York duo LION BABE. Comprised of 23-year-old Jillian Hervey and bedroom-producer Lucas Goodman (a.k.a. Astro Raw), LION BABE are somewhat of a dream combination. Jillian’s voice has an unmistakeably kindred tone to that of a little American superstar by the name of Rihanna. But more than just a carbon-copy, Jillian’s melodies infuse bolshy trills and soulful croons that have her also being likened to the Afrocentric goddesses Beyoncé and Erykah Badu aswell – not bad for a debut, right? Paired with Goodman’s beats, which blend that golden-age noughties RnB vibe with a 2013 electronic twist, LION BABE are a serious force to be reckoned with. Jillian is also the daughter of singer and actress Vanessa Williams (best known for her roles as a self-absorbed brat in Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty), so we can see where all that talent is coming from.

The duo have only put out one single so far called Treat Me Like Fire, which is available to download for free here. You can stream the official video below, along with a remix of the track featuring rapper Dashius Clay. We also found some footage of LION BABE covering Erykah Badu’s Bag Lady live in NYC that is definitely worth a watch.
