Live Review: The Upfront Project Launch Night @ The Lightbox – 27 July

Launched last Friday (27 July), The Upfront Project will be showcasing a heap of Electronic artists every Friday at The Lightbox in London over the next five weeks. From House and Techno to offsets of Hip Hop, hybrids of Dubstep, Garage, Funky and Bass Music, each week hosts an eclectic range of the most cutting edge sounds coming out of  London and beyond.

The launch night, with a lineup of Gang Colours, Paul Woolford, Funkineven, Commix, Deadboy, Wbeeza, Randomer and more, gave us a full blown taste of things to come . Diverse sets from all the artists kept ears fixed, oscillating from Future-Garage to House to Post-Dubstep.

The highlight for us had to be Gang Colours, who rippled between Ambient House and Future Garage vibes, dropping in his own gems along the way. Aside from the music, The Lightbox’s pulsating L.E.D. lights scattered heavily over the whole place adds a whole other element to The Upfront Project nights.

And there’s still all of this left to come: Ben Westbeech, DJ Rum, Darling Farah, Juk Juk, 2562, Eclair Fifi, Cooly G, RYAT, Two Inch Punch, Appleblim, Bwana, Bobby Tank, Elephino, Guy Andrews, dÉbruit, Luke Vibert, Darkstar, Auntie Flo, Lando Kal, Egyptian Lover, Ikonika, House Shoes, DJ Rashad and Spinn, Tessela, Ifan Dafydd, Falty DL
