While he may be making waves in his native Australia, Oliver Tank remains a fairly unknown entity in these parts. Probably the best way to describe his music is using his own words: accessible tracks disguised in a more interesting instrumentation. Accessible because they definitely have some pop sensibilities, but are given a twist by his own electronic production, like other newcomers Polica. Dreams, his accomplished debut EP, was released last November, our highlight being Last Night I Heard Everything In Slow Motion. It draws definite comparisons to James Blake’s Lindisfarne and also gets a great rework on Dreams Remixed, released this year. Another standout is a cover of Snoop’s Beautiful, which will feature in his next EP, alongside interpretations of Justin Timerlake, N.E.R.D., Cam’ron, Eve and more. Listen to all three tracks below and have a nosey at both EPs on Yes Please Records’s Bandcamp to unearth some more gems.
