You never know what to expect from a DJ Swagger production. Notching up a healthy string of releases over the past four years, the enigmatic German producer has explored everything from deep house and experimental to breaks, electro and juke.
Next up on the release schedule is Bassline Funkyshit London’s Thirty Year Records is the home for it and marks his fourth release on the label. Stepping away from the dreamy breaks and deep house sounds found on his previous two EPs for the imprint, DJ Swagger has both feet firmly in UK G territory harking back to the influences running through his Book Of Res EP for E-Beamz back in 2017.
While the EP also takes cues from bassline and dubstep, today’s premiere ‘Smartphone Love’ is a smooth UKG roller through and through. Peppered with sliced up vocal samples and crisp percussion, the track is carried along by shuffling 2-step drums and a deep, warm bassline.
