Day 2: Ruf Dug – Rage of Streets

Day 2 of our 2019 charity Advent Calendar, in aid of War Child.

One of Manchester’s favourite dance music patrons, Ruf Kutz boss and self-proclaimed video game boffin, Ruf Dug digs up a synth-heavy slice of boogie badness from the depths of his pixel-fuelled creative conveyor belt.

“This one came about really quickly. I was getting all the MIDI sorted on my synths so everything was all hooked up and in the process of rigging up the Korg DW-8000 (SICK SYNTH) these patterns popped out. Bang a beat underneath it and there u have it – boogie-wave by numbers. Mega buzz!

Our featured charity for 2019 is War Childwhose work in post-conflict zones is done a bit differently. They recognise humans need more than just food and shelter to flourish after a war, breaking the cycle that leads to repeated conflicts by giving them purpose, education and cultural enrichment.

The dance floor has long-since been a safe space for the displaced, marginalised and persecuted to find community and expression. Safe Spaces represent the core of War Child’s work, providing vital refuge for young people to play, learn and regain their childhood.
