Dr Banana are at it again, leading the charge in both fresh and forgotten UKG sounds. The Bristol-based label and clothing line have been sporadically releasing 12″ over the last three years, as well as diving back in time to reissue some lost cuts on their DRBAGAIN offshoot.
For their eighth instalment they keep it local, inviting Wisdom Teeth co-founder K-LONE for his first solo release on the label. This follows his track contribution for one of Dr B’s VA EPs last year, which make up the bulk of the label’s output, while elsewhere he has notched up releases on Wych, Idle Hands and Soundman Chronicles. On his new EP and our pick “Close”, K-Lone explores the softer side of UKG through deep warm bass, echoing vocal samples and shuffling percussion.
