Premiere: Cromie – Informal Path (Stefan Ringer Remix)

L.A. producer and DJ Cromie stays close to home on the Cali via Chicago label These Things Take Time to share the joy of both putting out their fourth record. The four tracks follow up efforts for Amadeus and 100% Silk and on this he also recruits Atlanta heavyweight Stefan Ringer to remix the title track.

Knocking three minutes off the original but simplifying the arrangement, Ringer works the illusion of spacing things out while also providing less time to get settled. Concise yet with a very Atlanta kind of purposeful lethargy. Pads and percussion resemble some of Hanna’s more minimal work, while the bass line half way in has enough weight to become the track’s main attraction; and it wouldn’t be ATL-sourced without the “yyyuuhh” punctuating in that elongated Georgian delivery.

Informal Path EP is out soon.
