Premiere: Jan Kinčl & Regis Kattie – You Never Told Me (Parts 1 & 2)

In Plain Sight is a debut collaborative album from Zagreg duo Jan Kinčl (on the buttons) and Regis Kattie (on the keys), combining live, improvised jazz within a house backdrop.

Label owner, promoter, radio host and club DJ, Jan has been an active member and shaper of Croatian electronic music for some years, while Regis hails from Amiens in Northern France. Classically trained on the piano, Regis first approach jazz piano in his early twenties and met Jan in 2016, six years after moving to Zagreb and getting elbow deep in local jazz culture.

Attracted by their opposite backgrounds but complimented by their mutual interests, In Plain Sight shows off their freeform approach to house with six studio pieces and two live recordings. Recorded live at At Galerija Cvajner in Pula, ‘You Never Told Me’ is the album’s longest by some distance. Featuring Zagreb bassist Luka Veselinović and Kosovo-born drummer Mirsad Dalipi, it’s a 13 minute, unrushed strut of odyssian proportions.

In Plain Sight LP is out now on PDV Records – buy the vinyl from their website and the digi from Beatport. Catch Jan and Regis live at Dimensions Festival (29th Aug-2nd Sep), just round the corner from where the track was recorded.
