Premiere: Zru Vogue – Possibly Imagined

Launching last year, French label Musiques Electroniques Actuelles – a sub division of Late-Night Rec – is dedicated to exploring the large spectrum of electronic music, particularly music that hasn’t previously seen the light of day.

With one release from Moscow-based producer Andrei Orlov under their belt, they kick start this year’s schedule with the no wave psychedelic sounds of Zru Vogue. Originally released in the early 80s, the Californian band blend a myriad of influences, experimenting with Middle Eastern rhythms, avant-garde rock and minimal electronics. MEA’s reissue gathers a selection of early works from the band and newer cuts from 2011, spanning the “neo-African avalanche” of ‘Cumulonimbus’ to the Arabic touches and Talking Heads nods in today’s premiere, ‘Possibly Imagined’.

Assembly For Body Movements will be out on 23 March – buy on vinyl from Bandcamp.
