The Nail Shop kick off their imprint with a sublime four-tracker from Speed Boat, also known as Eden Burns, one half of recent Feel My Bicep signings Sandboards. The EP carries a lo-fi aesthetic but has much more substance than a lot of lo-fi being released at the moment, with the pads and drum programming across the EP making the tracks fly by, despite each one being over six minutes long.
The A1 is our pick of the bunch, a dreamy summertime groover that channels the deep US feel of a classic Kerri Chandler or Ron Trent production. The best tracks are often the most simple ones, and it’s a testament to how well the track has been arranged that the drums, bopping bassline, organ and pads keep interest till the very end.
