Day 11 of our charity Advent Calendar in aid of Help Musicians.
London based duo and world music fanatics Krywald & Farrer have gradually made a name for themselves since joining the Percolate team as resident DJs a few years ago. Since then they’ve held residencies at XOYO, The Nest, played at numerous festivals, as well as hosting a radio show on Hoxton’s MEATtransMISSION, and all the while they’ve been busily working their magic in the studio, combining their love of world music obscurities with that of the electronic dancing variety.
These guys are the masterminds behind our Advent Calendar’s latest offering, with an unsubtle, four-on-the-floor, peak-time slammer. ‘Isle of Lights (Raw Mix)’, is comprised of lush pads, an impassioned Brazilian vocal sample, and those tantalising bongo hits. K&F explain a bit more about the track’s origins:
“Krywald came into the studio a few weeks back with a load of world music CDs he’d had since he was a kid saying, there might be some good sampling material on them. We had a flick through and came across a track by Ilé Aiyé which sounded really nice so we started playing around with.”
