When conjuring images of a Californian beach in the late summer, we must admit a chippy wasn’t anywhere to be seen on our imaginary shoreline. However, we certainly won’t argue its merits if one happened to be the inspiration for our pick from the latest release courtesy of our friends over at Greta Cottage Workshop. ‘Chip Shop’ is taken from the Dragbacks on Dockweiler State Beach LP, a deep and atmospheric collection sitting perfectly beside the darker and more introspective pieces released under Greta Cottage woodpile.
Easing you into a hazy journey of dubby tripping beats, masterminds behind this gem Inhmost tap into retro sounds reminding of Thievery Corporation and Boozoo Bajou. Yet cosmic ambience created from shimmering high notes and ghostly echoing vocals ensure these remain afterthoughts as you are gently rocked by summery ripples.
