Nebraska – Stand Your Ground EP

It’s impossible to bottle that fun-loving, free feeling you get at a Mister Saturday Night party. There is something so unique to what Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter provide via their summery selections. However, they come close with their label, releasing tracks by artists that capture the essence of those carefree nights on the dancefloor, which is what MSN is all about.

Nebraska‘s debut Displacement LP (2011) contributed heavily to the MSN party soundtracks, but was followed by three years’ hibernation. Only now, with the Stand Your Ground EP, do we see the resurfacing of the elusive producer. Already having firm anthems in Harkin and Carter’s bags, Nebraska provides four more feel-good, Balearic-tinged jams destined to brighten up any dancefloor. The hi-hat heavy ‘Little Chan’ kicks things off, with dainty and delicate sounds fluttering around an airy beat.

The mood is taken down a notch on ‘The Stoop’, with bass smothering the track in a bluesy embrace while the beat plods on. ‘Stand Your Ground’ is equally as lazy, a gentle groove supporting the swarm of bright synths soaring overhead, reminiscent of Gold Panda. Our highlight – and surely one to become an MSN anthem – is ‘Emotional Rescue’. A certified disco-house affair for lowering inhibitions and letting the undeniable euphoria of the track take over.

Stand Your Ground EP is released via Mister Saturday Night on Tuesday 5th May. Pre-order a copy of the vinyl and get a free digital download of the EP immediately.
