As summer teasingly approaches, one prepares for the frequent (sometimes irritating) attribution of tracks to the “Summer vibe(s/z)” tag. Shameless in our hypocrisy, here’s our very own addition, with Mark Hand’s rework of ‘Aquarius’.
The track is almost one long jam, with twinkly Rhodes augmenting the sweeping pads and soft percussion. The kick drum is hardly being touched, leaving plenty of space for vocals and bongos to swing across the cut up vocals from Greg Blackman. Stepping over the eight minute mark, maintains the interest til the last beat, its psychedelic danceability can almost be pictured as a live performance, a modern electronic, long-distance relative of a Grateful Dead jam circa ’72.
