Already a busy and fruitful year for sub-label Highlife, core label Huntleys + Palmers return with fresh material from DrumTalk, hotly anticipated since two of the tracks debuted in their recent Upfront mix for Boiler Room.
Containing both dancefloor heat and tracks to mull over, the feel of the mix translates well to DrumTalk’s EP, which showcases both a penchant for prominent synth lines and softer melodies wavering over the intricate percussion.
Highlight of the EP, ‘Everything’, swings into action after intensity mounts from a number synths all rising to the surface. As it begins to boil, the energy abruptly cuts away allowing one to lead you off into the rest of the track. The clacking of the percussion is satisfying, a groove that keeps you on your toes as it becomes impossible to remain still.
