For its inaugural release, Leeds label Blip Discs looks to the talents of young UK producer O’Flynn. For fans of Mikael Seifu, the B-Side eases you in with an irregular off-kilter kick that slowly builds and increases in energy, hinting at something deeper rising on the horizon. As soon as the peak of the sonic mountain is reached, the track disintegrates again, until the main section explodes to reveal African vocal chants. The unexpected bass-line complements these sounds perfectly, sitting underneath syncopated percussion, deftly cloaked in light synth lines that become more prominent as the listener is eased into a sense of melodic security. A real statement of intent from Blip Discs and O’Flynn.
