Preview: Piff presents James Barnsley & Shanti Celeste

Since their launch, just over two years ago, Piff have been picking up a lot of support from house music lovers across Bristol. They started putting on parties at Timbuk2 and have since branched out to collaborate on projects with other promoters and parties across the city. This latest night sees them back in their old stomping ground on Small Street, a fact that we are excited about.

Joining them are James Barnsley and Shanti Celeste, one a mainstay of the scene and the other an emerging artist. James Barnsley’s Acid Tambourine had a massive resurgence last summer, after it’s release over five years ago; a testament to the enduring popularity of the deep, bassy sound that his productions employ. Releasing on a variety of labels like Breakout Audio and Innercircle, his latest EP (The Spellbinder) features Don’t You Know, a self-assured easy-listening floor-filler if ever there was one.

Shanti Celeste has been curating parties in Bristol for a few years now, after ‘deferring’ her studies in the city in favour of music making. With releases on Idle Hands and Brstl under her belt and an appearance with Kerri Chandler at the In:Motion opening last year, we’re really looking forward to her selection come Wednesday night. The Piff residents, and previous Bristol Spotlight guests Facta and Harri Pepper complete the lineup, with more info on the Facebook event. Check out a selection of mixes and new tracks (forthcoming on Idle Hands) from the Bristol contingent involved.
