Stone Owl – Chemtrails EP

You know that feeling when you stumble upon new music and it’s pretty special? At first you feel really proud of yourself, but then you realise your praise should be directed to those actually making the music. Hence, we say ‘well done’ to Stone Owl: a new Detroit duo making listeners drool with their atmospheric techno.

Their debut EP Chemtrails, boasts glistening melodies layered onto raw bass-lines in a way not dissimilar to Pantha Du Prince. Accompanied by several remixes, most notable, Andy Toth’s uplifting, groovy take on the title track and Justin James’s tauntingly captivating “Death Touch” remix of Dim Mak. Their own standout remixes of Deepchild, infuses a sleazy funk that reminds us of the ‘Prince’ of sleaze, Jimmy Edgar. Basically, these guys are great.

Sounds like: Pantha Du Prince, Jimmy Edgar
