Preview: Owiny Sigoma Band at Colston Hall

When: 6th November
Where: Colston Hall, Bristol
Tickets: £10 +bf

A collaboration between London and Nairobi-based musicians, Owiny Sigoma Band embodies the cultural exchange that makes up the sum of its parts. Their sound blends traditional Kenya Nyatiti and Luo music with Western digital reworkings, creating hypnotic Afro grooves that ooze originality. The band are touring following the April release of their second album, Power Punch, which is out on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings, and is real fire for the dancefloor. Tickets are still available for their 6th November show in Colston Hall’s The Lantern, where support will be provided by the West African rhythms and dub basslines of Fofoulah.

We’re also giving away tickets to their London show at Jazz Cafe alongside Cape Town’s John Wizards. The prize includes a vinyl copy of Power Punch. More info here.
