Ahead of their appearance at this year’s Garden Festival in Croatia, Futureboogie are putting on a little Garden Get Together on 16 March down at Bristol’s Factory Studios and are inviting a load of artists for their first Futureboogie event.
Headlining will be DJ Nature, whose musical roots date back to Bristol in the 1980s with the famous Wild Bunch sound system. This was followed by a move to New York in 1989 to go solo as Nature Boy, then over twenty years later he shed the youthful-sounding name and revived the project as DJ Nature. His production are based around a love for the 4/4 groove, but there is a deep musical heritage, with influences from the gritty Bristol sound of the 70s and 80s and the New York House scene of the following decade. He’s accompanied Floating Points in his Plastic People residency but is not prolific when it comes to live dates. He’s even been known to turn down gigs if he thinks the sound system will compromise his sets, so the fact he’s on the bill for this evening is testament to how good it will be. DJ Nature’s latest LP Return of the Savage is our now on Golf Recordings and for an idea of what his set will be like check our recent mixes for Resident Advisor and Beats in Space.
Also playing will be Garden Festival regular and friend of the Futureboogie family Felix Dickinson and Wolf Music will two of their favourite new acts at the moment, KRL and Casino Time, in Room 2.
DJ NATURE REMIX PREMIERE
We’re really excited to be premiering the official stream of a track we’ve been admiring for a while. Bristol’s Typesun is a STW favourite and DJ Nature has reworked Last Home, injecting extra groove to the track that opened the Futureboogie:10 compilation. This will be released on Futureboogie later this year so we’ll give you more info when we hear.
