Premiere: Soft Sugar – Swampin (Alternate Mix)

Much like their charitable parties, since expanding into the world of reissues, London-based DJ duo Heels & Souls have built a dedicated label following over the course of two deep digging discoveries – and what’s more, they’ve raised money for a bunch of incredible causes while they’re at it.

Having started life with Special Touch’s sought after street soul gem Garden of Life, followed by the 80s electro and acid-tinged sonics of Manfred Holz, Michael Buchner and Jürgen Blömke – under two separate guises: The Soundstealers and Amazonia – H&S embark on another voyage into the past to unearth a collection of tracks from another trio of producers who operated as both Paprika Soul and Soft Sugar.

High Wycombe’s Alan Barnes, Andrew Spiller and Andrew Hughes are the minds behind the Balearic and dream house sounds on H&S’ third outing. Compiled from three EPs originally released in the 90s, the A-Side features Paparika Soul’s breezy and timeless cover of Tania Maria’s ‘Come With Me’ (completed with ‘The Chill’ mix and the ‘Bossa Mix’), while the flip boasts two house cuts from Soft Sugar: one for the dreamers and one for the groovers.

HSREC003 will be released on 25th February. 20% of profits from Heels & Souls Recordings and Prime Direct Distribution will be donated to Zaatari Radio – a humanitarian collective working with war-affected communities around the world.
