At Zen 2000 it’s all about family. The 7″ label, launched last year by two LA-based friends, is driven by a need to share all the great sounds the friends around them are creating. Not confined to home soil, Zen 2000’s A&Ring will stretch to friends from all over the world who’ve connected with the pair over the years. Beginning life with a release from Alex Ho last June, the label are now making way for another close pal, Damon Eliza Palermo (AKA Magic Touch) for a batch of cosmic slow burners.
On the vinyl release there’s two tracks: the A-Side opens with Damon’s original ‘Promise’, which matches shuffling beats and psychedelic acid lines with Tokyo-based vocalist and producer Sapphire Slow’s sweet, sparse vocals, while on the flip Public Possession and Born Free affiliate Samo DJ gets deep and dubby on the remix. But there’s more — for those buying the digital edition, there’s a couple of extra tracks thrown in for your troubles: n extended dub version of Samo’s remix, which we’re premiering today, and another original piece from Damon that’s all celestial pads and soaring keys.
