There’s something about Kamuflars that separates him from the crop of rising producers; his time is split between farming and creating music that channels Balearic, dub and house. Recognised for his distinctive funk-driven output, the Norwegian producer has been catching the ears of many across the European continent. Following last year’s EP for Mhost Likely Green – with its broken-beat approach – he returns to the label, who team up with Junglen, for another instalment: The Things That Swings.
We’ve fallen head first for ‘Kveldsol’ which translates to ‘evening sun’. It’s a textured track that evokes anticipation from the first bar and manages not to waver even by the final beat. Uplifting 606 drums and alluring polyrhythms are sure to accent future dancefloor moments, while there’s plenty of influence from natural habitats, too; percussion and fizzy drone-like hums give the track a warm resonance which calls to mind humid climates and a lush giddiness.
The Things That Swings will be released on Mhost Likely Green and Junglen on 22nd October.
