Springing up from Los Angeles way, Zen 2000 is a new project set up to platform friends and family who are deeply entrenched in the city’s music scene. Klasse Wrecks affiliate Mr. Ho is behind the inaugural release; a dose of jazzy swag and synth-funk goodness that transports you to the heydays of the ‘80s when flair was an essential accessory for a night out.
“Aiaiai” is made up of little else than simple loops, mesmerizing horns, a cheeky vocal hook but this simple arrangement is in no way related to its impact. Featuring cascading textures and notes that bounce from wistful to alluring, it teems with sensuality and sweltering dancefloor heat. Smooth and stylish, it’s just begging for the sultry vocals of MCs like Rejjie Snow or the soulful stylings of Noname.
