Over the last year or so, a lot of the world has come to a halt; we’ve escaped our day-to-day realities, finding ourselves adjusting to a different way of living. With her new single ‘Part II’, London-based trombonist Rosie Turton riffs of these feelings, inviting us to take ‘a brief pause to escape from reality’ and connect with the mind and the body.
Taken from her upcoming EP Expansions and Transformations: Part I & II, it marks the first release since her debut LP Rosie’s 5ive on Jazz re:freshed back in 2019, which stamped her name on the UK jazz scene for her deftness as a band leader and composer.
This new release is an exploration of impermanence, evolution and the way in which music and the mind connect. The A-SideOpening with the tension-inducing sounds of Part I, the EP then finds calmness in Part II before breaking into a cacophony of uplifting sounds, nodding to the joyous compositions of Pharoah Sanders and Absullah Ibrahim.
Expansions and Transformations: Part I & II will be self-released on digital and limited run of vinyl on 18th June 2021.
