Like most people, we’re yearning for the dance floors to return; yearning for the moment we can be with friends in a steamy, sweaty basement, as strange and hypnotic sounds pulse out of the speakers. While we can only dream for now, Berlin nightclub (and one of said sweaty basements) Sameheads have been kind enough to provide some sonic relief with their new compilation, ‘Vax!’.
Like the club’s past V/As, which have featured Kris Baha, Marlene Stark, Anatolian Weapons and many more, Sameheads have rallied their nearest and dearest for their fourth instalment, providing an imaginary soundtrack to the dance floors we’re so sorely missing.
Amongst those tasked with transporting you out of your living room are Mond Music boss Alexander Arpeggio and Bruits de la Passion crew member OhLandy. Their track, ‘Der Anhuf’, which originally appeared as a French version on Sameheads and Diapason’s joint release in December, layers German vocals that tell stories of hot, sweaty nights on the floor, over cosmic synth lines and a guitar-driven Italo groove.
