From his studio retreat in the heart of the Norwegian forest, the mysterious and illusive Raaja Bones has been quietly presiding over his control panel and synthesizers, crafting balmy funk that conjures up images of Miami Beach and late-night cocktail-lounges.
Following decades without a word, Ollis and Snorri, the minds behind Snorkel Records, managed to track Raaja down in his intimate hideaway, which led to the release of a cassette called Sleepwalks. Now Raaja’s second helping, Boardwalks, is ready to be shared on the label; a six tracker of melodic funk jams that transport listeners to a distant paradise.
The title track is saturated in 80s nostalgia; its groovy synth lines and shimmering keys tipping the hat to the cosmic charm of Prins Thomas, while the funk-driven bounce and shuffling beats could feel at home on Washington DC’s PPU.
