Monday Morning Mixtape 301

Drift through 2016 Manchester-via-Copenhagen ambient, 2011 bedroom psychedelic-dub, and 1996 introspective instrumental emo from New York.

This week is curated by Karl Karlson, Rinse FM resident with his label and party Feelings, and programmer of London club Five Miles. In his own words: “Due to the current lockdown I’ve been spending a lot of time in the little backroom of my flat recording my radio shows and mixes, so thought I’d change things up and put together the tracks in Ableton for a more traditional mixtape format without any literal mixing. The extra hours have resulted in listening through a lot of old records and music in my digital archives as far back as my teen years. It’s been very hard to keep my head from being busy in the current climate and the mixtape reflects this – an array of emotions from relaxed to restless to contemplative to uplifting.”

Five Miles From Home is their new fundraising comp, with tracks donated by previous guests to raise money for the club during lockdown. Karl also plays Kala Festival on the new date of 9th-16th September.
