Recline through Senegal-infused Jamaican jazz guitar licks, 2014 Amsterdam-meets-Venice ambient and 1998 Israel-via-New York post-bop jazz.

Welcome back to a new Monday Morning Mixtape, helping you start your week on the right note. This week is curated by Mercury-nominated Manchester trio Gogo Penguin. Their new album Gogo Penguin LP is out 1st May on Blue Note. Listen to new single ‘Kora‘ and check out their rearranged tour dates this autumn.

In the words of bassist Nick: “I woke up a lot earlier than normal on Monday just as it was getting light. I had a quick look out of the window and saw that it was going to be a sunny day and there was a blackbird sitting on the lawn which for some reason inspired me to stay up and start on this mix. So this was an instinctive selection for me on a particular Monday morning. The tracks selected were just what I felt suited the mood of that morning as the day began. Hope you enjoy!”
