Premiere: Glen Ricks – I’ve Been Waiting For You (DJ Duckcomb Discomix)

Next up on Emotional Rescue‘s busy schedule, we take a trip to the Caribbean with Mr Glen Ricks, the Jamaican born singer renowned for his broad singing range.

The first in a run of releases focusing on sounds coming out of the island, in particular the cross-pollination of styles stimulated by emigration, Ricks’ boogie gem ‘I’ve Been Waiting For You’ sees him fuse the boogie and soul influences from a childhood growing up in Canada, with the reggae and lovers rock stylings of his birthplace.

Originally released in 1983 on 7″, Emotional Rescue’s reissue includes the original, alongside an instrumental version and, to top it off, a Discomix from LA-based producer Duckcomb who shifts between both versions respectfully, making sure that Ricks’ soulful vocals and that JA swing still shine brightly.

I’ve been Waiting For You comes out on 28th May via Emotional Rescue.
