German producer Daniel Herrmann AKA Flug 8 returns to Ransom Note Records with Hypnotische, his second release after debuting on the London-based magazine’s label arm in 2017.
The album’s material dates back to the late ’00s produced during his time living in Offenbach on the outskirts of Frankfurt. As art director for the local and reputable club Robert Johnson, Herrmann’s life was spent in the thrall of drugs, music and sleep deprivation, which eventually left him burnt out and homeless. This release reflects those emotional times, both the highs and the lows, and is arguably his darkest material to date.
Our pick, ‘Ein Licht’, is arresting, it’s luminous synths and subtle snares presenting one of the more serene moments on the LP. But heed our advice and stick this release on from start to finish, it’s one to get completely lost in.
Hypnotische is out now on Ransom Note Records – buy it on their Bandcamp.
